Women's Field Hockey Cruises in BIG EAST Opener

CHESTNUT HILLS, Mass. - Senior tri-captain Anne Marie Ambrose (Bridgeton, NJ) scored the opening goal and assisted on the three others to help No. 14 Boston College open its BIG EAST season with a 4-1 victory over Villanova. Ambrose's five points in the game raise her season total to a team high 11 points, with three goals and five assists.
Ambrose's lone goal opened the game's scoring at the 30:52 mark in the first half. The Wildcats tied the score at 1-1 nearly eight minutes later, as Katie Craig sneaked the ball into the net. Freshman Amelie Wulff (Dusseldorf, Germany) scored the game-winning goal on a pass from Ambrose and put it in the net with 11:38 left in the opening stanza. Senior tri-captain Joy Ramsbotham (Melvin, NH) scored in the final seconds of the first half to incrase the Boston College lead to 3-1.
The Eagles added one final goal in the second half, as sophomore Jennifer Hall (Brewster, NY) scored off of a penalty corner with 17:28 left in the game.
Boston College returnes to action this Wednesday, September 16, when they face rival Boston University at Alumni Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
