She is assisted by Pam Borton, Kelly Cole, and Bill Gould. Patrick Knapp (Widener '75) is in his 12th season at Georgetown. He is assisted by Gail Beatty Davis, Niki Reid, and Jimmy Howard. Knapp's overall coaching record is 153-174 in 12 years. Last season, Knapp led Georgetown to the BIG EAST 7 Division title.

EAGLES vs. HOYAS: Boston College and Georgetown have played 31 times, and the Eagles lead the series 17-14. The Eagles have won the last two games in the series, including a 70-60 victory at Georgetown on December 2, 1997. A year ago, Boston College defeated the Hoyas, 69-60, on January 12, 1997 in Washington, D.C. It was the only meeting between the teams last season. Georgetown's last victory in the series was on February 24, 1996, when the Hoyas defeated the Eagles, 68-53, in Washington, D.C. The last time that the Hoyas won at Chestnut Hill was a 72-69 victory on January 21, 1995.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN: The Hoyas are currently 6-14 overall and have a 3-9 record in the BIG EAST Conference. Georgetown snapped a six-game losing streak with a 72-56 victory at Pittsburgh this past Tuesday. Four players are averaging double figures in scoring, led by senior guard Kim Gallon's 14.2 points per game. Junior forward Sylita Thomas is averaging 13.8 points per game and is the leading rebounder with an average of 8.2 per game.
LAST MEETING: Boston College won its first BIG EAST Conference game of the season at Georgetown on December 2, defeating the Hoyas, 70-60. Juniors Paula Bacso and Whitney Steele combined for 32 points and 19 rebounds. Bacso recorded a double-double, netting a career-high 18 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds. Steele finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Kim Beezer recorded 12 points and eight rebounds, and sophomore guard Cal Bouchard added 12 points for the Eagles. Georgetown rallied from a 34-28 halftime deficit, and cut the lead to 42-39 with 14:15 remaining in the game when junior forward Sylita Thomas connected on four jumpers in a six-minute span. Bouchard converted two free throws to extend the Eagles' lead to 44-39. Free throws by senior guard Kacy Williams moved the Hoyas to within three points, but junior Allison Booth hit three jumpers to open up a six-point lead with 9:21 remaining in the game. Georgetown rallied again to tie the game at 54-54 with 6:33 left. Bacso and Steele combined for 10 points in the final six minutes to secure the win. Thomas led Georgetown with 16 points.

LAST GAME: Boston College dropped its fourth straight game as the Eagles lost at Providence, 84-75, on February 4. The game marked the fifth consecutive loss on the road for the Eagles. Five Providence players scored in double figures and the Friars outrebounded Boston College, 48-33.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead, and had a 34-27 advantage with 3:05 left in the first half. Jen Gombotz scored six points for Providence in the closing minutes to cut the Boston College lead to 36-33 at halftime. The Eagles added to their lead with a 16-7 run in the first six minutes of the second half and had a 12-point advantage. Providence rallied with a 17-4 run and a Monika Roberts layup gave the Friars a 58-57 lead with 7:51 remaining in regulation. Roberts scored 10 points in the final seven minutes for Providence. Boston College cut the Friars' lead to 69-67 with 2:49 left in the game, but Providence connected on 11-of-13 free throws to secure the victory.
Roberts finished with 21 points and seven rebounds. Mandy Saunders netted 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds, and Jen Gombotz added 13 points. Kerri Sullivan and Dani Trippany each scored 10 points for the Friars. Boston College was led by Whitney Steele's 21 points and nine rebounds. Cal Bouchard finished with 18 points and Aimee McGuire added 10 for the Eagles.
MISC. PROVIDENCE NOTES: Boston College and Providence split the regular season series. The Eagles defeated the Friars, 94-73, in the first meeting on January 8...The 69 field goals attempted by Boston College in the loss to the Friars was a season-high...The Eagles handed out a season-high 21 assists on the 28 field goals made...Providence connected on 25-of-27 (92.6 percent) free throws in the game. The Friars' 92.6 free throw percentage was the highest for a Boston College opponent this season...The 48 rebounds and five blocked shots that Providence registered were the most by a Boston College opponent this season.
STREAKS: Alissa Murphy's streak of three-consecutive games scoring in double figures was snapped at Providence. The sophomore guard netted only seven points in the loss to the Friars...Whitney Steele and Cal Bouchard have each scored in double figures in eight of the last 10 games. Bouchard's streak of nine consecutive games in double figures was snapped at Connecticut on January 25.
EAGLES IN CONTE FORUM: The Eagles are 5-1 in BIG EAST games, and 7-2 overall, at Conte Forum this season. Boston College won its first five league games at home, before losing to Villanova (48-35) on January 31. The Eagles defeated West Virginia (64-45), Providence (94-73), Rutgers (74-65), Notre Dame (78-76), and Pittsburgh (75-64). The other loss in Conte Forum was to Holy Cross (80-68) on December 9.
EAGLES ON THE ROAD: The Eagles have not won away from Conte Forum since December 31. Boston College has a 2-6 record in road games, including a 2-5 mark in BIG EAST away contests. The last time that the Eagles won on the road was a 74-54 victory at St. John's on December 31. Last season, Boston College finished with a 9-3 record in away contests, including a 7-2 mark in league road games.
LEADING THE NATION: Boston College continues to lead the nation in three-point field goal percentage and is 15th in free throw percentage. Prior to the loss at Providence, the Eagles had connected on 82-of-205 (40 percent) three-point field goal attempts, including a season-high 72.7 percent (8-11) in the victory over Rutgers on January 14. Boston College is currently shooting 39.4 percent (85-216) from three-point range. The Eagles are shooting 73.7 percent from the free throw line, connecting on 333-of-452 attempts in 21 games.
BALANCED OFFENSE: Boston College has had at least five players score in double figures in five games this season. The Eagles have won four of those games. In the season opener against Marist, six Eagles scored in double figures in the 104-60 victory. Six players also scored in double figures in the 85-79 loss at Miami on January 10. Five Eagles registered double digits in scoring in games against Notre Dame (January 17), Providence (January 8), and St. John's (December 31).
HEAD COACH CATHY INGLESE: Head coach Cathy Inglese is currently in her fifth season at the helm of the Boston College women's basketball program. Inglese arrived at Boston College in 1993 after serving as the head coach at the University of Vermont for seven seasons. In five seasons she has registered a record of 59-71, and has a career record of 179-145. During her stint at Vermont, she became the winningest college basketball coach in the nation over the 1991-92 and 1992-93 seasons. Inglese's teams were undefeated in regular-season play in both 1991-92 (29-0) and 1992-93 (28-0), and became the only Division I men's or women's team to have back-to-back perfect records. She earned District I Coach of the Year and North Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1990-91, 1991-92, 1992-93, and was a National Coach of the Year finalist all three years. A 1980 magna cum laude graduate of Southern Connecticut State College, Inglese was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
FRONTCOURT: Juniors Paula Bacso and Whitney Steele, and senior Kim Beezer have been a tough frontcourt combination for opponents this season. Bacso is averaging 7.9 points and 4.9 rebounds. The junior forward scored a career-high 18 points and pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds in the victory at Georgetown on December 2. Steele has developed into a major force at center and is currently second on the team in scoring with an average of 14.9 points per game. The 6-4 center has led the team in scoring in eight games, and has scored in double figures 18 times this season. Steele has led the team in rebounding in nine games. Beezer has played a key role for the Eagles this season, providing a spark with her intense style of play. A starter in 20 games, Beezer is averaging 4.7 points per game. Although she is only 5-8, Beezer is second on the team in rebounding with an average of 5.0 per game.
BACKCOURT: The backcourt tandem of Cal Bouchard and Aimee McGuire has started all 21 games for Boston College this season. Bouchard is currently leading the team in scoring with an average of 16.3 points per game. The sophomore guard has scored in double figures in 17 games, and was named to the Comfort Inn Downtown Classic and Corestates Hawk Classic All-Tournament Teams. McGuire is averaging 6.3 points and 2.2 rebounds and has connected on 41.4 percent (24-58) of her three-point field goal attempts. The senior captain netted a season-high 16 points in the victory over Providence on January 8.
OFF THE BENCH: Four players off the bench have played major roles in the Eagles success this season. Alissa Murphy started 27 games as a freshman a year ago, but this season she plays a key role in the backcourt coming off the bench. The sophomore guard is currently third on the team in scoring with an average of 8.8 points per game. Murphy netted a career-high 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds against Providence on January 8. Junior Allison Booth is averaging 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in 20 games. After missing the game against Rutgers on January 14 with an ankle injury suffered at Miami, the 6-4 center returned to action against Notre Dame and scored 14 points. She is averaging 15.3 minutes per game. Booth registered a double-double at Villanova on January 3, scoring 13 points and grabbing a career-high 14 rebounds. Freshman Jamie Cournoyer has played in 19 games and is averaging 3.3 points and 2.3 rebounds. The 6-3 center netted 12 points and grabbed six rebounds in 17 minutes of play against Towson on November 28. Danielle O'Banion has played in 13 games and is averaging 3.0 points per game. The freshman guard scored a season-high 11 points in the victory at St. John's on December 31.
