Softball Honored with Three All-BIG EAST Selections

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS.-Junior MaryDietz(San Manuel, AZ) was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team for third straight season, after leading her team to a 27-20 record overall and an 11-5 record in BIG EAST play.
Sophomore Summer Jarratt(Manhattan Beach, CA) and senior Jen Murray(Attleboro, MA) were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
Dietz posted an 8-1 record in BIG EAST play with a 1.69 earned run average. She struck-out 83 in 58.2 innings pitched. She led the BIG EAST averaging 9.9 strikeouts per seven innings and shutouts with four in 11 appearances.
Jarratt, a member of the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team a year ago, finished with a .380 batting average in 50 conference at-bats. She led the team with a .520 slugging percentage and a .991 fielding percentage, making only one error in 100 attempts. The sophomore had a seven-game hit streak in the middle of the season in which she batted .615 with six runs batted in. She also led the team with 13 multiple-hit games.
Murray was chosen as a member of the All-BIG EAST Second Team for the first time in her career. She led the Eagles, batting .400 in 15 conference games. She ended the season with a .298 average in 44 games, up from a year ago, when she batted .200.
The Eagles went 1-2, losing to Seton Hall, 4-3 in the semi-finals of the BIG EAST Tournament. Boston College was the two-time defending BIG EAST Champions, until Notre Dame beat Seton Hall to claim the automic bid to the 32-team NCAA Tournament.
