Chestnut Hill, MA--The Boston College Eagles went to North Carolina this weekend knowing that coming home with two victories would be tough. Playing fifth-ranked North Carolina on Saturday and No. 13 Duke on Sunday, it would take 70 minutes of solid play to defeat these two teams on their home fields.
UNC capatilized on 12 penalty corners to earn the 5-1 win and give the Eagles their third loss of the season. Senior Nancy Pelligreen scored a hat-trick for the Tar Heels , scoring on two penalty corners and and a late-game goal.
UNC went to halftime with a 1-0 lead thanks to freshman Abby Martin. Boston College tied the game with 31:58 remaing on a penalty corner goal by senior Joy Ramsbotham(Melvin, NH). UNC answered just over a minute later to take the lead when Pelligreen scored her first goal off a penalty corner.
Boston College came out Sunday afternoon after the loss to UNC and defeated the No.13 Duke Blue Devils on a goal by Joy Ramsbotham(Melvin, NH). Ramsbotham scored the game-winning goal off a penalty corner with 19:23 remaining in the game. BC's defense played well, holding off the Blue Devil attack; goalkeeper Jill Dedman(Orange, CT) made eight saves in the game and currently posts a save percentage of .874.
The Eagle's will look to conclude their regular-season with a win over Rutgers on October 31. Game time is 7: 00 p.m.
