Field Hockey defeats New Hampshire 3-2

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The No. 8 Boston College field hockey team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 3-2 win over New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon at the University of Connecticut. The Eagles (16-5) will now face the Huskies tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm. The winner of that game will advance to the Final Four, which will be played next weekend at the University of Pennsylvania
Senior tri-captain Anne Marie Ambros (Bridgeton, NJ) scored the game-winning goal with 4:49 left in the game to give the Eagles the victory. Fellow senior tri-captain Joy Ramsbotham (Melvin, NH) scored Boston Colleges first goal of the afternoon off a penalty corner to give the Eagles an early 1-0 advantage.
Boston College took the one goal lead into the locker room at halftime. Freshman Gina Dinan (Portland, ME) scored the second Boston College goal of the game with 17:03 remaining, putting the Eagles up 2-0. But New Hampshire stormed back with two goals, both by Caroline Coyne, to tie the score at 2-2.
The win over New Hampshire gave the Eagles revenge for a regular season 2-1 loss on Sept. 27.
