Field Hockey advances to BIG EAST Tourney Finals

VILLANOVA, PA -- The top-seeded Boston College field hockey team advanced to the finals of the BIG EAST Tournament with a 3-0 victory over fourth-seeded Providence. The Eagles will face the winner of the Connecticut-Syracuse game on Sunday.
The Friars and Eagles battled to a scoreless tie in the first half. Then, with 16:15 remaining in the game, senior Katie Gentile (Kittery Point, ME) broke the tie on an unassisted goal. Three minutes later, freshman Amelie Wulff (Dusseldorf, Germany) scored off a pass from senior tri-captain Anne Marie Ambros (Bridgeton, NJ) . Then with just over two minutes left in the game, Wulff scored again, this time off a pass from Gentile.
Junior goalkeeper Jill Dedman (Orange, CT) recorded her seventh shutout of the season by stopping six shots.
