Field Hockey Unable to Repeat as BIG EAST Champions

Villanova,Pa--The field hockey team was unable to repeat as BIG EAST champions as Connecticut got in the way and was able to defeat BC 2-1 in the BIG EAST Championship held at Villanova Stadium Sunday afternoon. UConn avenged a regular season loss to the Eagle's to take the BIG EAST title.
BC(15-5) took the early 1-0 lead on a goal by Jen Hall 30:14 into the first half. The No. 5 Connecticut Huskies tied the game early in the second half . The game winner came 16 minutes later off a penalty stroke. Katie Stephens netted the game winner to give Connecticut the automaic bid into the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Tournament.
Boston College will have to wait until later this week to see if they receive an at-large bid into the tournament.
