Chestnut Hills, MA -- The No. 12 Boston College field hockey team ended its two-game loising streak Wednesday night with a 4-0 victory over Providence. The win upped the Eagles record to 7-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the BIG EAST. Senior tri-captain Joy Ramsbotham (Melvin, NH) opened the scoring just nine minutes into the game by converting a penalty shot. Junior Julianne Marrone (Holden, MA) added another Eagle goal in the first half when she scored off of a pass from Katie Gentile (Kittery Point, ME) with 25:34 left in the first period. Ramsbothan added an assit to her point total when her pass to senior Janis Cornwell (Wolfeboro, NH) led to the Eagles third goal wtih 17:49 left in the game. Senior tri-captain Anne Marie Ambros (Bridgeton, NJ) scored the final Boston College goal off of a pass from Maronne. Junior goalkeeper Jill Dedman (Orange, CT) once again was stellar in goal, recording her third shutout of the season. She stopped six Friar shots. The Eagles next play October 4, when they travel to Syracuse to take on the Orangemen.
