BIG EAST All-Stars Open European Tour with Two Wins

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The BIG EAST/Nike Women's Basketball All-Stars, led by Boston College head coach Cathy Inglese, opened their tour of Belgium and Germany with a pair of wins over the Memorial Day weekend. On May 29, the BIG EAST squad defeated Aalst, 100-70, in Brussels, Belgium. The University of Connecticut's Stacy Hansmeyer led the team with 16 points and nine rebounds. Boston College's Jamie Cournoyer finished with 15 points and five rebounds.
On May 30, the BIG EAST team defeated the Belgian Junior National Team, 64-58. The Belgian squad closed to within two points with 2:29 left to play, but the BIG EAST team pulled away behind a pair of field goals by Rutgers' Christina Fowler and a three-point play from Hansmeyer. Fowler and Cournoyer each posted eight points and eight rebounds, while Hansmeyer led the team with 14 points and nine rebounds.
