Women's Track Opens Indoor Season Against Harvard

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College captured six events, but fell to Harvard in the team's first meet of the indoor season. BC took both relays, winning the 4x400M in 4:02.2 and took the 4x800M in 9:40.8. Freshmen won the other four individual races that the Eagles won.
Cate Guiney won the 3000M in a time of 10:02, besting the next competitor -- sophomore Nicole Portley -- by seven seconds. Portley set a new personal record with her time of 10:09.
Jennifer Vendetti took the 800M in a time of 2:16.
In the other win on the track for the Eagles, Nicolette Pogue won the 60M dash in 7.7 seconds. Pogue also took third-place honors in the 200M dash with a run of 26.2.
In the field events, Christina Regan won the high jump with a leap of 5'1". She also claimed third-place honors in the long jump with a 16'7" effort.
Freshman Maggie Guiney equaled her personal best time with a 5:02 run in the mile, enough for second place behind Harvard's Mary Unsworth. Junior Lisa McIsaac followed Guiney with a time of 5:05. Two more BC runners finished in fourth and fifth places -- Katie Ryan (5:06) and Meghan Cuniff (5:16).
Junior Kristyn O'Brien took second place in the pole vault with a leap of 9'6.25".
Boston College will next return to action on Saturday, December 11 when the team again faces Harvard in Cambridge at 9:00 a.m.
