Men's Swimming Glides Past Holy Cross, 166-110

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College won 13 of 15 events while placing Eagle athletes in the top-three spots of an event 33 times en route to a 166-110 victory over Holy Cross Tuesday in Chestnut Hill.
Freshman Matthias Schildwachter (Yorktown, Heights, N.Y.) earned the team's Outstanding Meet Performer Award after winning the 100-yard individual medley (56.92) and 200 butterfly events, clocking 2:03.23 in the latter which was seven seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
BC's Outstanding Performance was given to Jonathan Hartigan (Nova Scotia, Canada) for leading the Eagles' first-third charge in the 200 backstroke (2:05.50).
Diver Michael Wilt (Columbia, Conn.) won both the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions, earning 267.60 and 220.12 points, respectively. His diving partner, Steve Hunter (Chester, N.Y.), totaled 219.75 for second in the one-meter and posted 201.97, good enough for third in the three-meter.
Junior Paul Callahan (Churchville, Penn.) won both the 100 backstroke (57.80) and 200 breaststroke (2:21.37) events.
Senior Colin Feichtmeir (Mountain View, Calif.) and junior Dave Santacroce (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) took home victories in the sprint freestyle events as Feichtmeier swam 22.82 in the 50 then Santacroce posted an event-winning time of 51.61 in the 100.
Other BC event-winners included Russell MacTough (Chalfont, Penn.), who recorded a 1:03.76 to win the 100 breaststroke while Jay Pollack (Westfield, N.J.) paced the 500 free competition with his time of 5:06.01. The New Jersey native also finished second in the 100 back (59.93).
Fletcher Evans (Mercer Island, Wash.) garnered two second-place finishes, swimming 2:11.75 in the 200 back and 23.13 in the 50 freestyle.
Holy Cross' Mike Emmons won both the 200 freestyle (1:48.67), outtouching BC's Matt Baker (Lakewood, Wash.) by 0.16, and the 100 butterfly with his time of 55.12, 0.24 ahead of the Eagles' Greg Dwyer (Rochelle Park, N.J.).
