BC Field Hockey Falls To Syracuse, 1-0, In Overtime

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College saw its field hockey season come to an end, losing to Syracuse 1-0 in overtime in opening-round action of the 1999 BIG EAST Field Hockey Tournament held at Coyne Field in Syracuse, N.Y.
Outshot 18-2 for the contest, the third-seeded Eagles hung tough for 71-plus minutes before Syracuse's Kelly Hambelton scored the game winner to send Syracuse to Sunday's final against top-seeded UCONN. Earlier in the day the top-seeded Huskies downed fourth-seeded Villanova 4-1.
Senior goalkeeper Jill Dedman, a second team all-conference performer, stopped 13 Orangewoman shots in the loss.
The Eagles finish the year with an overall record of 9-11.
