CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lost 4-1 to Niagara Sunday in Kelley Rink after taking a 5-1 loss to the Purple Eagles the day before. Niagara improved to 9-1-1 while BC dropped to 1-9.
In a physical contest, Niagara entered the box 11 times for 22 minutes while BC spent 28 minutes, including a 10-minute misconduct penalty, off the ice with nine penalties.
Niagara scored three times in the first period, lifted by Brooke Bradburn's (Brampton, Ontario) eighth and ninth goals of the season. Linda Groff (Amherst, N.Y.) , who contributed to all of the Purple Eagles' scoring, assisted Bradburn's two power-play goals - at 3:43 and 14:21 of the first period - then netted her own goal at the 18:12 mark of the first period. Stephanie Romain (Aylmer, Quebec) also had an assist in Niagara's first goal. Barbara Prall (Hull, Mass.) fed Groff's goal to help give NU a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Right wing Jennifer Skalski (Williamsville, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season, set up Melissa Hamilton (Brampton, Ontario) and Groff at 12:27 in the final period.
Just under three minutes later, BC got on the board when Nicole Fortier (Portsmouth, R.I.) tucked her shot just under the cross bar into a wide open net, receiving feeds from Jen Buckley (Greenwich, Conn.) and Lisa Molvar (Lexington, Mass.), who took control from Niagara goalkeeper Tania Pinelli (Hamilton, Ontario) behind the net.
Sharon VanTuyl (Portage, Mich.) made 43 saves in the cage for the Eagles, including one on Brooke Bradburn's penalty shot with 8:35 remaining in the game. Pinelli accumulated 20 saves in net for Niagara.
