Women's Ice Hockey Skates Past RPI, 8-0

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Lisa Molvar (Lexington, Mass.) and Jen Buckley (Greenwich, Conn.) scored two goals each to help Boston College earn its first victory with an 8-0 decision over Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute Tuesday in Chestnut Hill. The Eagles improved to 1-4 while RPI dropped its first game of the season.
Molvar also recorded another assist. Jane Jorge (Allston, Mass.) posted one goal and two assists, and teammate Heather Lombardo (Barrington, R.I.) notched a goal while assisting on two others. Emily Koren (Williamsville, N.Y.) stuffed in a rebound to score the game's second goal, and Amber Bobin (Evanston, Ill.) put away the last goal with help from Michelle Snyder (Palatine, Ill.) and Jane Jorge. Kristin Campbell and Gen Richardson (Monroe, Conn.) fed two goals on the night while Thia Connolly (Dedham, Mass.) helped out Koren's power-play goal.
BC converted on two of five power-play chances, including a 5-3 advantage on the last goal as well as getting a short-handed goal to grant BC a 3-0 lead in the first period. The Eagle defense killed off six RPI man advantages.
Christy Nentwig (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Heather Cohen (Concord, Mass.) combined for the shutout as Nentwig made 11 saves in 20 minutes, and Cohen stopped one more, seeing two periods of ice time.
From the left circle, Gen Richardson fed Buckley, who slapped a wide open shot from the slot to make it 1-0 BC at 2:06. The two combined again for a short-handed goal 10:23 into the first.
Jane Jorge's goal originated from an entangled Molvar on the boards to Lombardo, who fed Jorge in front 14:29 into the second period for a 6-0 BC lead.
Lisa Molvar received Kristin Campbell's feed just before the Engineer's blue-line to finish a one-on-one confrontation with the goalkeeper for her second goal of the night. Bobin earned the final goal with 26 seconds remaining.
BC plays at Northeastern Saturday (Nov. 20). Game time is at 2 p.m.
