CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College forwards Morgan Page (Westerly, R.I./Westerly), Mary Guarino (Plantation, Fla./St.Thomas Aquinas) and Katherine Halloran (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) each added a goal and assist to lift the Eagles 3-0 over Georgetown Saturday in Washington D.C. BC closed out its regular season with a 13-5-1 record while the Hoyas fell to 8-9-2.
This game marks the fourth time, Page has accumulated a goal and assist in one game this season while Guarino has done it three times. Guarino, who leads all Eagle scorers with 33 points on 13 goals and seven assists, recorded her 75th career point in four years at the Heights. Page follows, posting 12 goals, five assists for 29 points and 64 career points as a sophomore.
With 53 seconds remaining in the first half, Guarino received feeds from Halloran and Jillian Livolsi (Northport, N.Y./Northport) to give BC the 1-0 lead. The Eagles doubled their lead when Guarino fed Morgan Page, who found the back of the net from eight yards out, at the 58:07 mark.
Katherine Halloran, who had a goal and assist Oct. 22 against Rutgers, deposited the insurance goal on Page's assist at 79:48.
The Eagles outshot the Hoyas 19-4, forcing BC goalkeeper Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, N.Y./Walt Whitman) to make one save for her 10th complete shutout of the year and 26th in her career. The Eagle defense has posted five shutouts in its past six matches while Schaeffer has not been scored upon in 400 minutes.
BC faces Villanova in the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST tournament Tuesday (Nov. 2) in Philadelphia.
