CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - For the second time this season, Boston College goalkeeper Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, N.Y./Walt Whitman) earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper-of-the-Week honors for her play during Oct. 18-24.
This award marks the sixth time this season that an Eagle soccer player has been recoginized by the conference. Schaeffer joins sweeper Sarah Powell and forward Mary Guarino, who have each been recognized twice in 1999.
Schaeffer helped BC to a 2-0-1 mark last week, allowing only one goal in 300 minutes of play. After she surrendered one goal to UNH (2-1) Tuesday, Schaeffer did not allow any more to pass through in 220 minutes of play, helping BC to a 4-0 victory over Rutgers and 0-0 scoreless double-overtime battle with St. John's Sunday.
The junior netminder now has eight complete shutouts and one shared shutout on the season while also accumulating 24.5 shutouts in her three-year career on the Heights. Her goals against average is .869 in 1999 and .965 for her career.
Boston College hosts Brown Wednesday (Oct. 27) for the team's last regular season game on Newton Campus Soccer Field. Game time is at 2 p.m.
