Paul Taylor

- The epitome of a student-athlete, he is Boston College’s all-time leader as a foilist and was the first to be named a Rhodes Scholar in the history of the university.Â
- He compiled a 103-50 individual record in foil over four seasons, the most career wins and the highest winning percentage of any Eagle foilist. He was chosen Most Valuable Player three times and served as team captain for two seasons.
- Qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2001 and 2003 and was New England Foil Champion in 2002. In his senior year he led the squad to a fourth-place finish, the team’s best ever, at the Intercollegiate Fencing Association Championships.
- He was a Presidential Scholar, compiling a 4.0 grade-point average in his double major in physics and classics. He earned the Edward H. Finnigan, SJ Memorial Award, Boston College’s top commencement honor. He was inducted into Boston College’s Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and was named Haley House Volunteer of the Year in 2003.
- After graduation, Paul earned a doctorate in astrophysics at Oxford University.
