Consensus Top 100 recruit from North Carolina commits to Boston College
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Jairus Hamilton has signed a national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic endeavors at Boston College. Hamilton inked his NLI at a ceremony at his high school - The Cannon School in Concord, N.C. - on Friday, April 13.
"Securing a commitment from a player like Jairus further solidifies where Boston College stands on a national level," said head coach Jim Christian. "Building off the 2017-18 season, Jairus will help to continue the momentum of winning basketball at the Heights."
A 6-8, 220 lb. forward, Hamilton finished his prep career as the No. 2 scorer in Cannon School history, with 2,574 points in three varsity seasons for the Cougars and head coach Che Roth. Hamilton averaged 28.3 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.1 steals per game in 2017-18, finishing his senior season as one of the top scorers and rebounders in the state of North Carolina. He helped lead Cannon to the quarterfinals of the NCISAA 3A state championship. Â
On April 7, Hamilton made his second appearance on the Associated Press All-State boys basketball team - considered the most highly regarded honor in North Carolina because it features players from the four public-school classifications, as well as the private schools, throughout the state.  Hamilton received nine of 16 votes to earn his second AP All-State designation. Â
A McDonald's All-American nominee, he was also selected to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association All-State team for the third consecutive year and was named the Charlotte Observer's All-Region Player of the Year for the second straight season. As a junior, Hamilton registered averages of 24.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. He played his AAU basketball with Team Loaded Virginia.
"Jairus' ability to impact the game in all facets, his work ethic, and his drive to develop as a person and a player fits the culture of our program perfectly," Christian added.
Hamilton was a consensus top 100 rated recruit by all the major college basketball recruiting services:

His older brother Jared enrolled at Boston College this past January after transferring from Georgia Southern. The 6-4, 190 lb. guard will be eligible to compete at the conclusion of the 2018 fall semester.
