How It Happened
Miami's Lonnie Walker hit a 25-footer with 2.3 seconds remaining to propel Miami to a 79-78 victory over Boston College at the Watsco Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles led by as many as 14 points - 67-53 - with 6:16 remaining.  But the Hurricanes outscored BC, 26-11, down the stretch - including a 15-5 run over the final 2:54 - to earn the split in the regular season series.
Both teams shot the ball well offensively in the first half, as there were five ties and five lead changes. Miami took its largest lead - 28-22 - with 8:21 left in the opening frame. The Eagles would outscore UM, 19-11, and entered halftime with a 41-39 lead.
Trailing by two early in the second half - 43-42 with 17:17 left - Boston College used solid play on both ends of the floor to build a double-digit lead. Outscoring the Hurricanes, 25-10, over close to an 11-minute span, the Eagles held UM without a field goal for 5:09.

- Steffon Mitchell led the Eagles with a career-high seven assists to go along with a team-high six boards. It marks the 26th time in 29 games in which Mitchell has led the Eagles in a statistical category.
- BC shot 56.6% from the floor (30-53) for the game - including a single-half season high of 65.5% (19-29) in the first half.
- The Eagles were 4-of-17 from the 3-point line and made just 14-of-25 from the foul line.
- Miami controlled the boards, 39-27, including a 20-9 advantage in the first half. Â
- BC was credited with 20 assists - the highest single-game total of the season. The Eagles' assist percentage was 66.7%.
