CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior guard Troy Bell scored 22 points and sophomore guard Ryan Sidney added 19 points to lead 13th-ranked Boston College to a 90-65 victory over Morris Brown before a crowd of 3,462 fans in Conte Forum.
The victory was the Eagles' 22nd consecutive home triumph.
Bell netted 12 of his 22 points from the foul line, while Sidney was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field. Sidney also led BC (6-0) in rebounding with seven.
Freshman guard Jermaine Watson and senior swingman Kenny Walls rounded out the Eagles' list of double-figure scorers. Watson scored a career-high 14 points, while Walls finished with 11 points.
BC jumped out to a 15-4 lead with 14:20 remaining in the first half. The visiting Wolverines narrowed the margin to seven points, before the Eagles extended their advantage to 41-22 with 1:48 remaining before intermission. BC settled for a 45-30 halftime lead. Sidney scored 17 first-half points.
BC scored the first five points of the second half, before Morris Brown answered with seven consecutive points to trim the difference to 50-37. BC never allowed the visitors any closer, and led by as many as 28 points three times late in the contest.
Joseph Dunn led Morris Brown (1-6) with 19 points. Rashad Davis added 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Game Notes: Bell and Sidney tied for the team with six assists apiece. Bell also made four steals ... BC was outrebounded by Morris Brown, 46-38 ... BC forced 28 turnovers and made 16 steals ... BC shot 50.8 percent from the field, marking the third time in the last four games that BC has made more than half its shots from the floor ... BC made a season-high 22 free throws on a season-high 35 attempts. Bell shot 12-for-14 from the foul line. Bell has now shot 10 or more free throws in 17 of his 65 collegiate games, making 10 or more 12 times ... Freshman Nate Doornekamp equaled his career high with eight points. He also grabbed six rebounds and blocked two shots.
