CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior forward Xavier Singletary scored a team-high 19 points and senior guard Kenny Harley registered a career-high 15 rebounds to lead host Boston College to a 77-48 non-league win over Holy Cross before a crowd of 4,032 at Conte Forum.
Sophomore guard Troy Bell netted 15 points, while junior swingman Kenny Walls added 13 points for the Eagles.
Boston College (5-0) jumped out quickly, using the three-point field goal and solid defense to take a 20-4 lead just more than eight minutes into the contest. Walls and Singletary each hit two three-pointers in this stretch, while the Eagles' defense forced eight Crusader turnovers.
The Eagles took a 34-13 lead on freshman Ryan Sidney's basket with 5:59 remaining in the half, and extended the margin to 25 points -- 47-22 -- on Singletary's fourth three-pointer of the night with 1:14 left before intermission.
BC shot 57.1 percent from the field, including 66.7 percent from three-point range, to take a 46-26 halftime advantage.
Holy Cross (4-2) hit one free throw to begin the second half, but could never get any closer. Boston College led by as many as 33 points -- 77-44 with 5:27 to play -- in the second half.
Junior guard Ryan Serravalle led Holy Cross with 18 points. Senior center Josh Sankes grabbed 10 rebounds.
Game Notes: Harley's 15-rebound effort marked the best effort by a BC player since Danya Abrams registered 16 rebounds at Syracuse on Jan. 7, 1997 ... BC outrebounded the Crusaders, 39-28. Both teams entered the game having won the rebounding battle in each of their previous games ... BC hit nine three-point field goals (eight in the opening half) ... Bell led the Eagles with six assists, matching his career high ... BC forced 24 turnovers. The Eagles have now forced more than 20 turnovers in four of five games this season ... Bell hit 6-of-7 free throws in the game. His only miss came on the second of two shots with 13:55 remaining in the game. The miss was Bell's first since the season opener against St. Peter's, and snapped his streak at 22.
