CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore guard Troy Bell tallied a game-high 20 points and freshman guard Ludmil Hadjisotirov scored 12 points to lead Boston College to a 71-57 non-league win over Wofford before a crowd of 2,698 fans at Conte Forum.
Junior Kenny Walls and senior Xavier Singletary each added 11 points. Sophomore forward Uka Agbai recorded eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Walls scored nine of the game's first 11 points. BC held Wofford scoreless until sophomore Lee Nixon's field goal with 15:04 remaining in the first half, making the score 11-2. Boston College took a 27-14 lead on a dunk by Walls, but the visiting Terriers answered with a 17-6 run to close the half and trim the BC margin to 33-31. Walls led BC with 11 first-half points.
Both teams struggled at the offensive end after the halftime break. Singletary scored the first nine points of the second half for the Eagles, giving BC a 42-41 advantage with 9:39 left.
Boston College (4-0) used a 13-4 run over the next three minutes to gain a 55-45 lead with 6:36 remaining. Bell and Hadjisotirov each scored five points in the Eagles' rally. BC increased its lead to 15 points -- 63-48 -- with 4:21 to play. Wofford never drew closer than 12 points in the closing minutes.
Senior guard Ian Chadwick led Wofford (3-3) with 15 points. Senior Bishop Ravenel scored 12 points.
Boston College returns to action on Monday, December 4 against Holy Cross (4-1). Game time is 7:30 p.m. in Conte Forum.
Game Notes: Boston College is off to a 4-0 start for the first time since the 1993-94 season. The Eagles began that season with a 7-0 mark, before losing to #13 Arizona, 70-65, in the second round of the Maui Invitational ... Bell shot 7-for-7 from the foul line against the Terriers. Bell has now been perfect from the foul line in each of the last three games.
