- Email:
Kenny Francis is in his third year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Formation and Success, but joined Boston College in 2019. In this role, Francis is responsible for facilitating the holistic development of student-athletes across all 31 varsity sports, including personal development, community engagement, career readiness, and empowering the student-athletes' voices through the promotion of advocacy skills.
Before transitioning to student-athlete formation and success in 2022, Francis played an integral role in supporting student-athletes learning competencies and academic success, first working as an academic mentor counseling first-year student-athletes through their transition to college, then as an academic counselor for football and men’s track & field and cross country as a member of the Office of Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS). During his time with SAAS, Francis supervised part-time staff, facilitated academic support services, first year orientation sessions, and inclusion-based programming for student-athletes across the department. Francis was also selected from a pool of national candidates to participate in the N4A PDI Student-Athlete Development cohort, where he gained valuable skills from NCAA experts on how to best support student-athlete success. A firm believer in inclusion, Francis currently serves as the first chair of the Black, Faculty, Staff, and Administrators Association (BFSAA), Boston College’s longest-running affinity group for employees.
Francis brings many diverse sports and community engagement experiences as a former GNACÂ specialist for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, Boston Celtics community relations intern, and program manager for Best Buddies Massachusetts, where he was nationally recognized for fostering inclusion-based programming
Francis graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in sociology. In 2021, he graduated from Northeastern University with a master's degree in sports leadership. A Dr. Martin Luther King Fellowship recipient, Francis was recognized for demonstrating an exceptional commitment to uplifting the Boston community.
A native of Roxbury, MA, Francis is a 3rd-degree black belt and martial arts sensei. Kenny enjoys wellness practices, learning about new cultures, and fruit smoothies.
