Kevin Blum joined the Eagles staff during the 2019-2020 season after 18 years coaching club swimming in the US and Australia. During that time, he coached a number of swimmers to the 2008, 2012, and 2016 USA Olympic Trials, with 2 athletes posting Top-6 finishes,
and as high as 3rd, at the 2012 event.

Kevin has helped his swimmers qualify for multiple US international senior and junior teams in 5 separate years, and was named to the USA National Team coaching staff for the 2013 World University Games in Russia.

Blum grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and was fortunate to swim club at Mission San Jose Aquatics in Fremont, as well as at Division I Cal State Northridge, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management.

Kevin got his coaching start in 2001 in his college town, building the Rattler Swim Club with 1 swimmer. He spent years giving learn-to-swim lessons, lifeguarding, running camps, and coaching various high school teams while growing the club to a stable 150 swimmers, with the team eventually earning USA Swimming silver medal status, and personally earning the American Swim Coaches Association ‘Award of Excellence’ three times.

Since leaving Rattler in 2012, Kevin has held a handful of coaching positions, including as the Director of Coaching with Surrey Park Swim Club in Melbourne, Australia, where he was awarded the ‘2015 Victorian Open Water Coach of the Year’, and as Head Senior Elite Coach of a large site with the Marlins of Raleigh, where he had an athlete selected to the USA 18&under World 100 squad, and was a finalist for the Fitter and Faster National Age-group Coach of the Year.

Kevin is currently a voting member on the USA swimming house of delegates coach committee for 2020-2021.
