Strength & Conditioning Internships and Fellowships

GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS
Graduate Fellowships within the Strength and Conditioning department are available through a master's program at Merrimack College. Each successful candidate will be assigned 2-3 varsity athletic teams to design and implement year-round strength and conditioning programs. There will be direct mentoring from the Director and Assistant S&C coach via daily and weekly staff meetings and performance reviews that will cover an extensive education curriculum and professional development activities. The expected outcome of this assignment is that each candidate gain the necessary competencies and become prepared to excel as a successful Strength and Conditioning coach.
RESPONSIBILITIES: It will be the responsibility of each successful candidate to create a comprehensive physical preparation program for multiple varsity sport teams, attend all staff meetings, complete educational requirements, and participate in professional development activities. Schedules will be individualized based on class schedules and coaching assignments.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Â
RESPONSIBILITIES: It will be the responsibility of each successful candidate to create a comprehensive physical preparation program for multiple varsity sport teams, attend all staff meetings, complete educational requirements, and participate in professional development activities. Schedules will be individualized based on class schedules and coaching assignments.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Â
- Experience within the field of strength and conditioning or related areas
- A nationally recognized strength and conditioning certification (CSCS, SCCC)
- CPR/First Aid certificationÂ
- Strong work ethic and professional improvementÂ
- Collegiate strength and conditioningÂ
- Skills attained will help other areas of strength and conditioning (ex. professional, high school, private)
- Human performance testing and training

VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP
The volunteer internships are hired for each semester during the year (Fall, Spring, and Summer). This is a volunteer, unpaid position and offers Division I experience with 30 varsity sports and training in an educational environment as well as an opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning.Â
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Strength and conditioning staff in the training of the Boston College sports programs; assist with daily administrative, and maintenance duties; assist in the set-up and break-down of equipment for every workout; spotting athletes and participate in weekly projects and assignments for the duration of the internship. Interns will have the opportunity to advance in the field of strength and conditioning, while fulfilling class credit toward a degree program.

- Possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa, NSCA and/or USAW.Â
- Have outstanding work ethic and attention to detail.Â
- Have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional.
