Jackson earns First Team All-American honors for his seventh place fiinish at NCAA Championships
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Steven Jackson was named a first team All-American as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday afternoon.Â
Steven Jackson earned First Team All-American honors for his seventh overall finish in the Men's Mile at the 2025 NCAA DI Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. Jackson crossed the finish line with a time of 3:56.07, which earned his NCAA First Team All-American honors at the meet.
Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Virginia Beach, Virginia, took home First-Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 16th individually and as part of a relay earned Second-Team All-America.Â
Jackson, a graduate student from Reading, Mass., is coming off an outstanding indoor season and career on the Heights. Jackson earned a silver medal at the 2025 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships earlier in the month, while running a time of 4:02.43. He currently holds the school record for the mile with his time of 3:52.71, which he earned at the Eagle Elite Invitational. This time currently puts him at No. 7 in the country, No. 3 out of all ACC runners, and No. 12 all-time in NCAA history.
History was made back in 2023 when Jackson earned a mile time of 3:57.70, becoming the first ever Eagle to complete a sub-4 minute mile. Since this accomplishment, Jackson has continuously worked hard to improve his time. Jackson has raced at the NCAA Indoor Championships for two consecutive years, after he became the first ever Eagle on the Men's Side since 1997 when Sean and Mark McGehearty finished first and second overall in the Weight Throw. Before Jackson in 2023, the last Track participant on the Men's side was Chris Georgules in 1995, who competed in the 3000m.Â
Up Next:Â Â The Eagles will kick off the 2025 outdoor Track & Field season with the Raleigh Relays on March 27-29.Â
