Hong Paces BC to Fifth Place After Day One of Palmas del Mar

Eagles go 1-over par as a team through the first 18 holes of competition on Sunday
HUMACAO, P.R. -- Boston College sits in a tie for fifth place after day one of the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate.
As a team, the Eagles finished Sunday's opening round with a 1-over par total of 289. Â BC is tied with Kennesaw State, ranked 48th on the national golf rankings. Â TCU (49) fired a 7-under 281. Â North Texas is in second place (285), followed by host UNC Greensboro (287).
Ben Hong sits in fourth place. Â He was 4-under par through the first 18 holes of play, carding an opening day 68 thanks to five birdies and 12 pars. Â Markus Lam is in 17th place, with an even-par opening round, while Jack Pogorelc was one shot back (73) - good for 28th place. Â Brian Xu carded an opening round 76, putting him in 54th place.
Boston College tees off tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. in a shotgun start, playing alongside Rutgers and Kennesaw State.
