
Eleven Earn Induction to BC Hall of Fame Class of 2023

Eagles vote largest class to Hall of Fame since 2014.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Varsity Club President, Raymond G. Perrone '80, has announced the selection of the 2023 Hall of Fame for the fall of 2023. The 11 honorees will be inducted at the 53rd Varsity Club Hall of Fame banquet on Oct. 27. All new members will be permanently enshrined on the Wall of Fame on the west concourse of Conte Forum.

The athletes inducted are Gosder Cherilus '07 (football), Steve Corbett '74 (football), Lauren Costello '10 (women's lacrosse), Charlie Davies (men's soccer), Jared Dudley '07 (men's basketball), Kelly Henderson '10 (women's soccer), Krys Kolanos (men's ice hockey), Brooke Queenan '06 (women's basketball), Tony Sanchez '21 (baseball), Deborah Spillane '08 (women's ice hockey) and Jessica Wacnik '15 (women's tennis).

The 2023 Varsity Club Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 27 ahead of the Eagles' football game against Connecticut on Oct. 28, which will occur during the BC's Homecoming Weekend. Complete details and ticket information will be made available at a later date.

Inductee Biographies
Gosder Cherilus '07, Football – Cherilus was a mainstay on the BC offensive line over his four years on the playing field. He set a BC record with 51 consecutive starts, beginning with 12 games his redshirt-freshman season as the only freshman on the Eagle offensive line. Cherilus started all 13 games at right tackle in 2005 and again in 2006. In 2007, he moved to left tackle, earned All-ACC Second Team and helped pave the way for Boston College's 5,924 yards of total offense, while holding opponents to the fifth fewest tackles for loss in the nation. A team captain and recipient of the Unsung Hero Award, he became a first-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft and played in the league for eight seasons.

Steve Corbett '74, Football – Corbett was a three-year letterwinner at Boston College from 1971-73. He earned Sporting News All-America as a center in 1973. A versatile interior lineman with outstanding speed, Corbett started for two seasons at guard. Following his collegiate career, he was drafted with the 30th overall selection in the second round of the 1974 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.

Lauren Costello '10, Women's Lacrosse – Costello graduated as BC's all-time goal scorer and points scorer with 164 and 248, respectively. She scored 34 or more goals in all four seasons, capped by 52 goals and 39 assists for 91 points as a senior in 2010. Her goal and assist totals from 2010 were both program records at the time. Costello earned All-America Second Team, IWLCA First Team Northeast Region and All-ACC First Team as a senior. She is eighth all-time in points, eighth in goals and fifth in assists in BC history.

Charlie Davies, Men's Soccer – Davies, from the class of 2007, totaled 59 points on 24 goals and 11 assists in 37 career games as an Eagle. He posted a dominant 2006 season with 15 goals and six assists for 36 points; setting BC single-season records in goals and points. For his efforts, Davies was named an All-America First Team selection by United Soccer Coaches and College Soccer News. He was the ACC Offensive Player of the Year and an All-ACC First Team pick. As a freshman in 2004, Davies was the Big East Rookie of the Year, All-Big East First Team, All-Region and Freshman All-America. He played 12 years of professional soccer and made 17 appearances for the United States Men's Soccer senior national team. Davies made the US roster for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and played in one game.

Jared Dudley '07, Men's Basketball – One of BC's most prolific scorers and longest-tenured professionals on the court, Dudley scored 2,071 points in his career, which currently ranks sixth. The Eagles won 98 games and made four trips to the NCAA Tournament, including the 2006 Sweet 16, during his collegiate career. He added 936 rebounds and 176 steals as an Eagle. Dudley was a consensus Second Team All-American as a senior in 2007 and was voted the ACC Player of the Year. He was a two-time All-ACC and two-time All-Big East selection as well as the USBWA District 1 Player of the Year. Dudley was a first-round pick in the NBA in 2007 and played 15 years in the league; winning the 2020 NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kelly Henderson '10, Women's Soccer – Henderson was an anchor on the BC backline throughout her career; appearing in 89 career games and starting 85. She contributed 31 points to the offense on nine goals and 13 assists. The 2009-10 Eagle of the Year, Henderson was a 2009 NSCAA Division I All-American and a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy as a senior. She was a co-captain that season and helped guide the team to a regular season ACC title, No. 6 ranking and a spot in the Elite Eight of the NCAA College Cup. Henderson played for the U.S. Women's Soccer Under-20 National Team and was a fourth-round pick in the WPS Draft.

Krys Kolanos, Men's Ice Hockey – Kolanos, from the class of 2003, cemented his place in BC history with the game-winning goal in overtime in the 2001 NCAA Championship Game to beat North Dakota. In just two seasons, he posted 82 points in 83 games on 41 goals and 41 assists. Kolanos was a Second Team All-American and Hockey East Second Team All-Star in 2001 after earning Hockey East All-Rookie Team honors the year before. He helped BC to the 2001 Beanpot Championship; earning MVP honors with a goal and an assist in the championship game against BU. Kolanos played parts of six seasons in the NHL and won a gold medal with Canada at the 2003 IIHF World Championship.

Brooke Queenan '06, Women's Basketball – Queenan scored 987 points and pulled down 560 rebounds in 111 games at BC. She helped her teams to four NCAA Tournaments, including three Sweet 16 appearances. As a senior in 2006, Queenan averaged 15.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, while shooting .499 from the field and .808 at the free throw line. For her efforts, she earned All-ACC Second Team. She also set the single-season rebound record in 2006 with 266, which now ranks fourth all-time. Queenan was a WNBA second-round pick in 2006 to the New York Liberty and played nine years of professional basketball abroad and overseas.

Tony Sanchez '21, Baseball – Sanchez became the highest MLB draft pick at BC as the No. 4 overall selection in 2009 after leading Boston College to its first NCAA Regional appearance in 42 years. A career .327 hitter, he collected 202 hits, 127 runs, 124 RBI, 49 doubles and 24 home runs. Sanchez was a first-team All-America catcher by Baseball America and the Eagles' first All-ACC First Team selection. He recorded a 23-game hit streak in 2008 and in 2009 caught all 25 innings of the longest NCAA Tournament game in history. He played 11 seasons of professional baseball, including four seasons in the majors. Originally a member of the class of 2010, Sanchez returned to finish his degree in 2021 following his professional baseball career.

Deborah Spillane '08, Women's Ice Hockey – Spillane's decorated career with the Eagles, included a 2007 NCAA Tournament appearance and Beanpot Championships in 2006 and 2007. She led BC to its first-ever Beanpot title as MVP, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over Harvard. A year later, she scored in BC's 6-1 rout of BU to claim back-to-back titles. She was inducted to the Beanpot Hall of Fame in 2014 and in 2018 was named to the Beanpot 40th Anniversary Team. For her career, Spillane totaled 134 points on 60 goals and 74 assists; totaling 30 points or more in all four seasons. She was a two-time Hockey East Second Team All-Star in 2005 and 2006.

Jessica Wacnik '15, Women's Tennis – Wacnik capped off her career with a victory over 2015 NCAA Singles National Champion Jamie Loeb of North Carolina; handing the eventual national champion her only loss of the season. Wacnik finished the season at 14-4 in singles play as BC's number-one. She won 10 or more single matches three times in her career. Wacnik and doubles partner Alex Boor qualified for the All-American Championship Tournament in 2015.
