Boston College earns sixth straight win in spring opener in win over Army
WEYMOUTH, Mass. — The Eagles began their spring season in dominant fashion on Saturday night, defeating Army 6-1 to capture their sixth straight spring opener.
"Great start for us," said head coach Nigel Bentley. "So much respect for Army, their coaches, and their team. They played really hard. Feels good to get our first win, now we have a quick turnaround and have to get ready for tomorrow. Congrats to our freshmen Natalie Eordekian and Seren Agar on winning their first dual matches as well."Â
Boston College set the tone in doubles right away, clinching the first point with a pair of victories from Stephanie Sanchez and Sophia Edwards, and Hailey Wilcox and Seren Agar. Marice Aguiar and Muskan Mahajan completed the doubles sweep with a 7-6 victory of their own.
The momentum carried into singles, with freshman Natalie Eordekian winning her first career dual singles match in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, to put the Eagles up 2-0. Fellow freshman Seren Agar followed suit with a straight-set victory for her first career dual singles match win.
Sophia Edwards clinched the win for the Eagles in straight sets, and Marice Aguiar and Stephanie Sanchez both added straight-set singles victories of their own to put a bow on a strong opener.
The Eagles will return to action tomorrow for a road test at Harvard at 12:00.
