Jackson Fifth in the Mile at ACC Championship

Denis Gallagher eighth in the 800m; 4x400m earns seventh place
BLACKSBURG, Va. - Steven Jackson placed fifth in the mile at the 2022 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday. The sophomore crossed the line in a time of 4:06.72. Jackson entered the championship event seeded fifth, running a time of 4:05.31 in the preliminary heats. Â
Denis Gallagher placed eighth in the 800m final, in a time of 1:51.33. He used a 1:49.85 performance during Friday's qualifying heats to earn a trip to Saturday's 800m championship.
The Eagles' 4x400m relay team finished seventh, as the quartet of Max McQuide, Eddie Kelly, Denis Gallagher, and Marcus Manson ran a season-best time of 3:14.79. Peter Fox ran a personal-best 8:26.63 in the 3,000m.
During Friday's competition, Marcus Manson bested his own school record in the 400m, running a time of 47.97 during Friday's preliminary heats. He was 15th overall.
Jalon Williams also broke his own BC record, registering a personal-best 6.83 seconds in the 60m, finishing 14th. Williams followed that up with a personal-best in the 200m, clocking 22.11.
David Scherrer was 15th in the prelims, narrowly missing a spot in Saturday's final. He ran 4:06.91, finishing fifth in his heat. Erik Linden clocked a season-best 4:11.64 despite running with only one shoe. In the 800m, Denis Gallagher clocked 1:49.85 in the prelims, advancing to the finals.
On Thursday, Boston College's distance medley relay team finished seventh in the opening night of competition. The quartet of David Scherrer (1,200m - 2:59), Marcus Manson (400m - 48.30), Denis Gallagher (800m - 1:53), and Steven Jackson (mile - 4:05) clocked a time of 9:46.41.  It is the third-fastest time in Boston College history and the fastest DMR in over 25 years.
As a team, Boston College earned nine points, placing 15th.
