Benson and Gauthier Earn Hockey East Weekly Awards

AMESBURY, Mass. – Graduate goaltender Mitch Benson and rookie forward Cutter Gauthier received Hockey East weekly awards on Monday. Benson was named the Stop It Goaltender of the Week while Gauthier was tabbed as the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week.

Benson stopped 95 of the 100 shots he faced last week for a .950 save percentage while going undefeated (1-0-2) in net. The Windsor, Ontario native made a season-high 39 saves on Friday night in a 1-1 tie against No. 10 Providence at Kelley Rink.

Gauthier posted three points in three games last week, including two power play goals and an assist. He registered his third multi-point game of the season on Tuesday in a 4-2 road win at Brown. Gauthier closed the week with 12 shots on goal.

BC closes the first semester this Friday at 7 p.m. against No. 7 Boston University in the Battle of Comm Ave at Kelley Rink. The Eagles will host Jerry York Night and honor college hockey's winningest coach during the first intermission.
