Varsity Club Hall of Fame Class of 2022 formally introduced on the Heights.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Eight individuals have been inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame ceremony was held on Friday night and the Inductees are being honored during the Eagles football game against Clemson tonight.

The athletes inducted are Josh Beekman '05 '06 (football), Jason Delaney '05 (baseball), Mary Dietz '00 (softball), Jim Kenny '86 (men's track & field), Jamie Silva '07 (football), Justin Slattery '04 (men's tennis), Tony Voce '04 (men's ice hockey) and Liv Westphal '16 (women's cross-country and track & field).

Inductee Biographies
Josh Beekman '05 '06, Football – The recipient of the 2006 Jacobs Blocking Trophy for the most valuable blocker in the ACC, Josh Beekman earned Associated Press All-America First Team to cap off his career. He was an All-ACC First Team pick in 2006 and Second Team pick in 2005. Beekman was awarded the Eagles' 2006 Scanlan Award and the 2007 Eagle of the Year Award. A three-year starter at right guard, he was a tri-captain for the 2006 team that went 10-3 and finished the season ranked No. 20 in the AP poll. Beekman, who started 10 games at guard and filled in to start three games at center, and the BC offensive line paved the way for 355.6 yards of offense per game, ranking second in the ACC, as well as the league's top passing attack at 241.2 yards per game. Beekman was selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears and spent parts of three seasons in the NFL.

Jason Delaney '05, Baseball – Boston College baseball's all-time hits leader, Jason Delaney graduated in the program's top two for hits, runs, RBI, total bases and games played. A 12th round pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Delaney hit .339 with 263 hits, 157 RBI, 153 runs, 52 doubles, and 24 home runs over his four-year BC career. He hit .348 or better in three seasons; twice hitting nine home runs and 48-or-more RBI in a season. Delaney was named to the All-Big East First Team and ABCA All-Region First Team in 2004. The BC third baseman was a Third Team All-ACC pick as a senior; hitting .354 and leading the Eagles to a program-record 37 wins.

Mary Dietz '00, Softball – Mary Dietz dominated in the circle during a golden era of BC softball. She struck out a single-season record 240 batters in 1998 and a single-game record 17 in a shutout in 1999. Dietz, who compiled 43 wins and 47 complete games with the Eagles, still holds the program record in earned run average at 1.58. She graduated with a BC record 608 strikeouts, which stands third all-time today. Dietz burst onto the scene as a freshman; claiming the 1997 Big East Rookie of the Year award as well as the Big East Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors as BC won its first of back-to-back conference titles. She was a three-time All-Big East First Team selection from 1997-99 and NFCA All-Region selection in 1998 and 1999.

Jim Kenny '86, Men's Track & Field – An All-American, NCAA Qualifier and Big East Champion, Jim Kenny is one of the most decorated athletes in BC men's track & field history. He achieved All-America recognition in 1985 and 1986, earning NCAA Qualifier status in the hammer throw in each of those two seasons. At the Big East Championship, Kenny won the hammer throw in 1985 and 1986 and the weight throw each year from 1984-86. He broke the Big East weight throw record with a throw of 62'6.5" in 1985 and hammer throw with a toss of 205'11" in 1986, when he was honored as the Big East Championships Outstanding Performer. Kenny also set the BC records in the weight (67'7") and hammer (211'3") throws; both of which rank third in program history.

Jamie Silva '07, Football – Jamie Silva led the BC defense from the safety position in 2007 with 125 tackles and eight interceptions, which is tied for the second most in a single season in Eagle history. For his efforts, he was a Consensus All-American, finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award given to the national's top defensive back, and All-ACC First Team. Silva recorded a three-interception game in his final season and finished his career with two interceptions and MVP honors at the Champ Sports Bowl. He was third on the team in tackles in 2006 and finished his career with 312; ranking 10th all-time at BC upon the completion of his career. The 2007 McGillis Scholarship recipient, played two seasons in the NFL and won a Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts.

Justin Slattery '04, Men's Tennis – Justin Slattery held the No. 1 singles spot for BC men's tennis the better part of all four years, while also playing No. 1 doubles. He is the highest professionally ranked doubles player in BC history and competed on the professional tennis tour from 2004-06; amassing 58 singles wins and 21 doubles wins. Slattery totaled 159 wins as an Eagles, including 77 in singles and 82 in doubles. He went 21-4 in Big East singles matches and 19-3 in conference doubles matches. A total of 114 of his wins came at No. 1 singles and doubles, which is considered an unofficial program record.

Tony Voce '04, Men's Ice Hockey – A Hobey Baker Finalist and First Team All-American as a senior, Tony Voce finished his career on the Heights with 167 points on 90 goals and 77 assists across 159 games. He was a two-time Hockey East First Team All-Star in 2003 and 2004. Voce scored more than 20 goals and surpassed 45 points each season between his sophomore and junior seasons. He earned a spot on the New England All-Star Team after collecting a career-best 48 points as a sophomore in 2002. Voce was a part of the Eagles' 2001 National Championship team in his freshman season.

Liv Westphal '16, Women's Cross-Country and Track & Field – Liv Westphal paced the BC women's cross-country and track & field teams as a two-time All-American cross-country runner and a 2015 All-American in the 5K on the track. In cross-country, she was a four-time All-ACC honoree; winning the individual title at the 2014 ACC championship. On the track, Westphal was All-ACC in 2015 (10K) and 2016 (3K, 10K). She competed in the NCAA Cross-Country Championship in 2011, 2012 and 2014; peaking with a 12th place finish as a freshman. She was also a NCAA Regional Qualifier in track in 2013, 2015 and 2016. Westphal earned Eagles of the Year in 2016.
