Jurkovec, Richardson Lead Off Eagles of the Week

Quarterback shines in BC debut and captain leads the Eagle defense in victory.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College football players Phil Jurkovec (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Max Richardson (Duluth, Ga.) have been named the Eagles of the Week, presented by Musco Lighting. The duo shines on the gridiron in BC's 26-6 win at Duke to open the season on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagle quarterback, Jurkovec, who transferred from Notre Dame, went 17-for-23 in his debut for the Eagles. He passed for 300 yards, becoming the first BC quarterback to reach that milestone since September 2018. Jurkovec threw touchdown passes on back-to-back plays from scrimmage for the Boston College offense. The first, a nine-yard toss to tight end Hunter Long in the back of the end zone after Jurkovec kept the play alive with his feet. Following a stop by Richardson and the BC defense, Jurkovec immediately hit an open Zay Flowers for a 61-yard strike.
Richardson, who made his team-leading 40th career start, posted a team-high eight tackles. He supplied five solo stops, a half tackle for loss and one hit on the Duke quarterback.
