Lopez Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Laura Lopez has been named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.Â
The sophomore had a perfect 13-0 singles record during the spring season before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of remaining matches. She went 15-4 overall in singles and was unbeaten at 4-0 in ACC play.
Lopez beat Amber O'Dell of Virginia in straight sets at home in third singles, and pulled out third set tiebreakers against Syracuse and Georgia Tech. The Barcelona native closed the spring by defeating Ally Bojczuk of Notre Dame in fourth singles.
She also clinched her No. 5 singles matchup against Natasha Gonzalez of Harvard for the deciding point. In the fall, Lopez was 3-0 at the Harvard Fall Classic and 2-1 at the Bulldog Invitational.

Lopez will enter her junior year with a 3.44 GPA as a double major in marketing and management & leadership.Â
Honorees selected to the Academic All-District Team will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced from June 16-19.
