
Men Top Eight Program Records at ACC Championship

Sophomore Sam Roche paved the way for the swim team, marking five program-best performances
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Boston College men's swim team capped its season at the ACC Championship in Greensboro as sophomore Sam Roche led the team, contributing on five program record marks over the four-day meet.

Roche set a program record in the 50 yard backstroke, finishing in 21.78. He also dropped his own record in the 100 yard backstroke with a 47.84 finish in the preliminary rounds before lowering the same record in the finals with a 47.60 performance. The finals performance earned the sophomore an NCAA B cut and a 21st place finish in the meet.

The team of Matt Clark, Roche, Colin O'Leary and Matt Szekely had a program-best finish of 6:36.42 in the 800 yard freestyle relay.

Zachary Szmania marked program-bests in both the 1000 yard freestyle (9:23.53) and the 1650 yard freestyle (15:36.29).

Clark, Roche, Matt Shelton and Zander Santana marked a program-best finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay, finishing in 2:58.73. Clark's lead off earned the second-best 100 yard freestyle in program history (44.42) while Roche's split (43.98) marked the second-best 100 yard freestyle split in program history.
