Clark Claims Program Record at Boston Winter Open

Freshman Matt Clark wrote himself into the program record books at the annual meet
BOSTON – Freshman Matt Clark claimed the all-time program record in the 100 yard individual medley with a 49.90 finish and the Boston College swim and dive team capped its regular season at the annual Boston Winter Open last weekend. The Eagles continue their season with the ACC Championships beginning on Feb. 19 in Greensboro.

- Matthew DeNave finished fifth in the 500 yard freestyle with a 4:43.91 finish.
- Lucas Saliba placed fourth in the 200 yard individual medley, finishing in 1:55.23.
- Damion Geoghegan Ribeiro won the 50 yard freestyle with a 20.93 performance.
- Matt Shelton won the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in 50.27. He also placed second in the 100 yard freestyle with a 45.87 finish.
- Ian Fitzpatrick placed first in the 400 yard individual medley with a 4:10.29 finish.
- Jack Fenton placed fourth in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 52.35. He also placed third in the 200 yard backstroke with a 1:52.95 finish and won the 100 yard backstroke with a 52.17 finish.
- Brendan Gatward placed second in the 100 yard butterfly with a 52.13 finish.
- Oliver Brown finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a 58.49 performance.
- Clark's 49.90 finish in the 100 yard individual medley marked a BC record and won the event.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Lauren Quinn won the 200 yard individual medley, finishing in 1:53.19. She also won the 100 yard freestyle with a 52.80 performance.
- Laney Thomas tied for fifth place in the 50 yard freestyle with a 24.53 finish. She also placed fourth in the 100 yard freestyle, finishing in 52.87.
- Mackenna Buchanan placed second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 275.50.
- Isabel Blaze finished third in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in 57.09. She also won the 100 yard individual medley with a 1:02.63 finish.
- Quinn (1:54.50), Thomas (1:55.36) and Aileen Coyne (1:56.94) placed second through fourth in the 200 yard freestyle.
- Jamie Doherty placed fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke with a 1:07.81 finish.
- The relay team of Coyne, Claudia Brady, Doherty and Mariel Green won the 100 yard medley relay with a 2:00.46 finish.
