Brown, Smith Named Eagles of the Week

Anthony Brown helped football to a season-opening win over Virginia Tech while Sam Smith scored twice in women's soccer's win at Princeton.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College red-shirt junior Anthony Brown and freshman Sam Smith have been named the Musco Lighting Eagles of the Week for their performances this past week.

Brown helped lead football to a season-opening 35-28 victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday, going 15-of-26 for 275 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Brown also scored on a 28-yard touchdown run and connected on two passes of 50+ yards. The Cliffwood, N.J. native connected with eight different receivers on the day and moved into a tie for 10th in BC history in career passing yards in the win.

Smith scored both goals in the women's soccer team's 2-1 win at Princeton on Sunday night to help the Eagles move to 4-0-0 on the season. The Hanson, Mass. native scored in the 31st minute and then slotted home the eventual game-winner just three minutes later – and secured her first career brace. Including BC's 3-0 win over rival Boston University on Thursday night, Smith finished with three shots on goal on the week. Smith now has three game-winning goals on the year.
