Ritchie, Apuzzo Named Eagles of the Week

Ritchie PRs on his way to a third-place finish at ACCs, Apuzzo helps lacrosse to NCAA tournament win.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Seniors Ian Ritchie and Sam Apuzzo have been named the Nissan Eagles of the Week for their performances this past weekend.

At the 2019 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Ritchie posted a personal best of 3:44.34 to finish third overall in the finals of the 1,500-meter run. The Wakefield, Mass. native closed out the final 400 meters in 56 seconds to earn the spot on the podium. That time bested his previous personal-best time of 3:47.51, which he had hit in his qualifying heat two days prior.

Apuzzo helped the top-ranked lacrosse team to a 21-9 win over Colorado in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Sunday. She racked up seven goals, one assist, 13 draw controls, four ground balls and five caused turnovers. The West Babylon, N.Y. native set single-game program records for an NCAA tournament game with her caused turnovers and draw control numbers.
