
Pelio, Delanis Named Eagles of the Week

Pelio helped baseball to 13-2 win, Delanis named ECAC Championships Female Performer of the Meet
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College baseball pitcher Mason Pelio and women's track and field long distance runner Emeline Delanis have been named the Nissan Eagles of the Week for their Performances this past weekend.

Pelio, a freshman, totaled seven innings on the mound and allowed just one run on five hits and one walk with six strikeouts in a 13-2 win over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. Pelio cruised through the first six innings on 86 pitches in a 1-1 game before the offense erupted for an eight-run seventh. The San Diego, Calif. native returned to the mound despite a 28-minute top half of the inning and sat EKU down in order, including striking out the last two batters he faced. Pelio is the first BC freshman to pitch seven innings or more and allow one run or less since freshman All-American Jacob Stevens vs. did it against Louisville on April 22, 2016.

Delanis captured the 3,000-meter title at the 2019 ECAC Championship at Boston University on Sunday to go with her 5,000-meter title from Saturday en route to being named the Female Performer of the Meet. Delanis ran a 9:20.09 in the 3,000, outlasting Albany's Hannah Reinhardt for the win. She grabbed the 5,000-meter title by clocking a time of 16:24.82. As a team, Boston College finished seventh overall, with a team total of 31 points.
