The former BC great and two-time Olympian will be recognized on Feb. 15 when the Eagles host Maine.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College Athletics will raise the jersey of former women's hockey standout Molly Schaus '11 to the Kelley Rink rafters on Friday, Feb. 15 when BC hosts Maine at 4 p.m.
Â
"I would like to congratulate Molly on this well-deserved honor," said Martin Jarmond, the William V. Campbell Director of Athletics. "She was instrumental in bringing the women's hockey program to new heights and has continued to be a tremendous representative for both Boston College and women's hockey."
Â
Schaus was a two-time All-American goalkeeper for Boston College from 2006-11. The program's all-time leader in saves with 3,428, Schaus ranks second in the BC record book in career save percentage (.934), goals-against average (1.81), and shutouts (21). She was a two-time top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award, presented annually to the top women's collegiate hockey player. The captain was named a first-team All-American in 2011 and a second team honoree in 2009.
Â
On three occasions (2007, 2009 and 2011), she earned the Beanpot Bertagna Award as the tournament's top goaltender and last year was named to the 40th Anniversary All-Women's Beanpot Team. Schaus went on to be a two-time Hockey East All-Star and four-time Hockey East All-Academic Team member.
Â
A native of Natick, Mass., Schaus was a two-time member of the United States Olympic team that captured silver medals in 2010 and 2014 and was also a four-time gold medalist with Team USA at the IIHF World Championship. Schaus was inducted into the Varsity Club Hall of Fame this past fall. Following her graduation from BC, Schaus played professionally with the Boston Blades of the CWHL, winning Goaltender of the Year in 2012 and helping the team to the Clarkson Cup in 2013.
