
Strockis, Cavaliere Named Eagles of the Week

Strockis named GCU Invite MVP, Cavaliere wins Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior outside hitter Jill Strockis (volleyball) and junior golfer Christian Cavaliere have been named Nissan Eagles of the Week following their performances last week.

Strockis was named the most valuable player of the Grand Canyon University Invitational over the weekend after leading the Eagles with 36 kills total in three matches and recording three straight double-doubles. Strockis, who also had two service aces, hit .330 on the weekend with just seven errors on 88 attempts. In a 3-2 win over Jacksonville State, she tallied 10 kills and 11 digs and in a sweep of Southern Utah, she had a match-high 15 kills and 17 digs. In the 3-0 win over Grand Canyon, Strockis tied for the team lead with 11 kills and 11 digs. The volleyball team is off to the best start in program history at 6-0.

Cavaliere captured the individual title at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate on Sunday. The junior finished 10-under (206) for the 54-hole tournament. Cavaliere shot an even-par 72 during the first round on Sunday before blazing a 64 during the afternoon's 18 holes of play. He was 9-under on the back nine over the final two rounds and carded a final round 70 (2). As a team, the Eagles finished in fourth place, one stroke behind Bethune-Cookman and eight before runner-up North Dakota State.
