Enstrom, Haverhals Named Eagles of the Week
September 10, 2018 | Field Hockey, Boston College Athletics, Men's Soccer
The seniors both scored the game-winning goals in ACC wins
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College men's soccer senior Simon Enstrom and field hockey senior Frederique Haverhals have been named Nissan Eagles of the Week following their performances last week.
Â
Enstrom notched five points on two goals and one assist in a 3-2 win over ACC-foe Clemson on Friday night in the conference opener. The captain assisted on the game's opening goal, slotting a perfect pass across to Callum Johnson, and then tied the game in the 71st minute before firing home the game-winner with a minute to play. Enstrom headed home his fourth goal of the season and his fifth came off a cross field pass from Trevor Davock, with Enstrom rifling a shot back across the goal mouth from 18 yards out. Enstrom finished the game – which was BC's first win against Clemson since the 2009 season – with six shots. It was the sixth multi-goal game of his career and 10th multi-point outing. He now sits sixth in program history in career points (67) and sixth all-time in goals (27).
Â
Haverhals' goal in double overtime gave the Eagles a 4-3 win over Wake Forest in the ACC opener on Friday night. Off a corner with less than six minutes remaining in the second overtime, Haverhals was able to pounce on a rebound off a corner to give BC its third win in the last five meetings with Wake Forest. It was the third goal of the season for Haverhals and it was her third consecutive game with a goal. The captain also registered four shots in the contest, tied for the team-lead.
