Eagles fall in their final meet of 2018
STORRS, Conn. – The Boston College swim and dive team fell to UConn over the weekend in their final meet of 2018. The men's team earned a total of 114.5 points while the women raked in 119.
Highlighting the meet for the Eagles was a first-place finish from Colin O'Leary in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:52.26. Alexa Lantin found second place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:06.50 finish, while Peter Shepanzyk earned second in the same event for the men with a time of 58.11. In the 100-yard backstroke, Maura Grimes (58.76) and Taylor Cortens (51.38) found second-place finishes in their respective races. Haley Dolan (24.11) and Ali Kea (24.50) earned second and third, respectively, in the women's 50-yard freestyle. Damion Ribeiro (21.30) and Colin Derdeyn (21.43) found the same placement for the men's race. Victoria Lin finished in second for the women's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.63.Â
The relay team of Taylor Cortens, Charles Kleinsmith, Colin O'Leary and Max Threlkeld earned second place in the 400-yard medley with a time of 3:25.46. On the women's side in the same event, Maura Grimes, Taylor Covington, Victoria Lin and Ali Kea earned second with a 3:52.69 finish.Â
The Eagles return to action as they host Dartmouth on January 11 at 5 p.m. in the Flynn Recreation Complex pool.
