Maroon vs. Gold Meet Recap

The Boston College swimming and diving team competed in an intrasquad meet on Friday, September 22nd. For the women, the Gold team emerged as victors; while for the men, maroon took first.Â
The Eagles showed promising young talent through dominant performances by the freshman. Four freshman won two events each: Will Suchy placed first in the 1000 and 500 yard freestyle; Colin O'Leary placed first in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke; Natalie Dalla Riva took first in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke; Ellie Uhl placed first in the 1 and 3M diving events.Â
TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
Men
- Taylor Cortens placed first in the 100 breaststroke (58.95) and first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.15.Â
- Colin Derdeyn took first in 50 free (21.99) and 100 fly (53.05).
- Mike Hinton placed first in the  200 free with a time of 1:45.90 and second in the 50 free (22.10)
Women
- Lauren Quinn took first in the 200 free (1:58.93), second in the 200 IM (2:14.07) and in the 100 free (55.29).
- Victoria Lin placed first in both the 100 (59.11) and 200 butterfly (2:11.55).
- Taylor Covington placed first in the 100 (1:07.98) and 200 breaststroke, with a time of 2:30.97.
- Maria Abrams placed first in the 50 free with a time of 25.32.
The Maroon vs Gold meet was a high-energy start to the 2017-2018 season. The Eagles have a crop of promising, young talent on the team that will add a lot of energy to this seasons' competition.

The Eagles will compete in their first meet of the season on Friday, October 6th at Bryant University.
