Women's Tennis Draws ITA Academic Recognition

Three members of the Boston College women’s tennis team – as well as the squad itself – were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in its annual academic awards.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Three members of the Boston College women's tennis team – as well as the squad itself – were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in its annual academic awards.
As a team, the Eagles posted a qualifying grade point average to earn the ITA All-Academic Team designation.
Individually, rising sophomore Micayla Casella, rising senior Asiya Dair and graduated senior Emily Safron earned GPAs of 3.5 or higher during the academic year to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is bestowed upon any collegiate program that has a cumulative team GPA of at least of 3.2 on 4.0 scale.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must meet the following criteria:

- Be a varsity letter winner
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
