Stephens adds Seven to Class of 2021

Boston College welcomes seven from the Class of 2021 to the women's swimming and diving program for the 2017-2018 season. Boston College introduces Natalie Dalla Riva from West Caldwell, New Jersey; Dominque Gray from Orange County, Calif.; Maura Grimes from Coatesville, PA; Ali Kea from Westford, Mass.; Michaela McGeary from Newtown Square, PA; Avrey Rocca from Gainesville, Fla., and Ellie Uhl from Stamford, Conn.
Interim Head Coach Michael Stephens is enthusiastic for this talented group to jump in: "We are excited to welcome our incoming freshman class to the Heights this fall. The talent and work ethic among this group of athletes is special - we are confident that they will quickly make a positive impact on our program."
Natalie Dalla Riva – James Caldwell High School – West Caldwell, NJ
Varsity Swim Team all four years…team captain for 2016-17 season…First Team All-Conference and County 2014, 2016, and 2017…Second Team All-State for the 200 individual medley in 2017…won the Cullen Jones Most Valuable Female Swimmer Award in 2017…holds eight high school team records…fifth in her graduating class…National Honor Society and Math Honor Society member.
Dominique Gray – Tesoro High School – Orange County, CA
Lettered all four years…Scholar Athlete and Varsity MVP 2014-16…broke five high school records…won the Silver medal in 200 freestyle, and Gold in 800 freestyle relay at North American Challenge Cup in Vera Cruz, Mexico…USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and All-American (400 freestyle relay)…South Coast League Champ in 200 individual medley…swims for her club team Novaquatics.
Maura Grimes – Unionville High School – Coatesville, PA
Team captain senior year 2016-17….holds school team records in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 100 backstroke….the 200 freestyle relay placed second in PA AAA states in 2017….qualified for PA AAA states all four years of high school in all four of her major events (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle relay, and 200 medley relay)….captain of both the varsity swim team and lacrosse team.
Ali Kea – Westford Academy – Westford, MA
Swam four years on the Westford Academy Swim Team, which won the Division 1 State Championship in 2014, 2016, and 2017…All-American in 2014 for the 200 medley relay…Rookie of the Year in 2014…Team MVP in 2015 and 2017…Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team…holds school records in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay…awarded Academic All-American in 2017.
Michaela McGeary – The Academy of Notre Dame – Newtown Square, PA
Team captain in 2016 and 2017…All-League four years in a row…First Team All-Main Line four years in a row…All-Delco 2015-17…Team MVP in 2016 and 2017….Coaches Award in 2016 and 2017…Inter-Ac league champion in 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle in 2017…holds five school records…holds two Team Records at her club team, Suburban Swim Club…received Distinguished Academic Honors four years in a row.
Avrey Rocca – The Bolles School – Gainesville, FL
Lettered all four years…member of the State Championship team 2014-16…placed in the 100, 200, and 500 freestyle events at State Championships….awarded North Florida Swim and Dive Performance Sportsman and Leadership Award…Scholastic All-American…Presidential Scholar…won O.S. Garces Award for Best All Around Athlete…senior team captain…swims for club team Bolles School Sharks.

Ellie Uhl – Deerfield Academy – Stamford, CT
Placed third at New England Championships two years in a row (2013-15)….placed second at the New England Championships and broke Deerfield Academy 11-dive record in 2016…placed second at New England Championships in 2017….AAU National Finalist three years in a row (2014-16)….named captain of the varsity team for the 2016-17 season….won the New England Championships with Deerfield in 2016…inducted into the Greenwich Aquatic Hall of Fame in 2013.
