Jason Baum Joins Boston College Athletics Department

Baum brings over 15 years of collegiate experience to The Heights
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Jason Baum has been hired as the associate athletics director for communications, Boston College athletics director Brad Bates announced on Friday. Baum brings over 15 years of collegiate communications experience, many spent at Rutgers, to The Heights.

Baum will oversee the day-to-day operation of the communications office, publicizing Boston College's 31 athletic teams. He also will serve as the Eagles' primary communications contact for the football team.

The Pennsylvania native was most recently the senior director of communications for the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer. He was responsible for strategy and implementation on all communications and oversaw the digital media and social media for the organization. He created an Internet Radio Network in English for the first time in the team's 20-year history along with a Spanish Internet Radio Network on TuneIn.

Before the Red Bulls, Baum climbed the ranks of the Rutgers athletic communications staff. He began in 2006 as an assistant athletics director, was promoted to associate athletics director in 2008 and then was named senior associate athletics director in 2012. He was a member of the Rutgers Athletics executive senior staff and primary spokesman for the department.

Baum was the primary football media contact at Rutgers for nine seasons and was a multi-year recipient of the "Super 11 Award" from the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) in 2009, 2010 and 2014. The "Super 11 Award" recognizes sports information departments and programs that exemplify excellent media relations.

Baum was responsible for strategy and implementation on all communications for Rutgers Athletics and was the supervising producer of RVision digital broadcast platform of live and on-demand video content for Rutgers Athletics. He was also Rutgers' liaison with the Big Ten Network, leading the department's strategic engagement with the network.

Baum has also spent part of his professional career at UCF (2002-06), Maryland (2000-02) and West Virginia, where he earned his bachelor's degree in sports management.
