Eagles football looks towards UMass and women's soccer continues to dominate
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – After letting up the game winning touchdown to Georgia Tech in the final minutes of last week's game, the Eagles turn their attention to UMass. The game in Ireland showed us a few glimpses of what positives are to come this season, but the Eagles as a unit, must get better at finishing games.
Once of the most important things in sports, is how a team bounces back after a tough loss. The Minutemen will be coming off a loss of their own, as they fell to Florida 24-7.
One positive that came from last game was the return of redshirt sophomore RB Jon Hilliman, whose ball carrying was reminiscent of what the maroon and gold have shown in the past.
Along with Hilliman, the Eagles will also be gaining back one of their larger weapons on defense. Junior DE Harold Landry, after being limited with a leg issue back in Ireland, will be in high gear as he takes the field at Gillette Stadium.
In other Eagles news, women's soccer continues to dominate the pitch as they moved to 5-0-1 on the season after a 5-1 win against Pacific on Sunday. Leading the charge is none other than redshirt senior McKenzie Meehan. The forward from Glocester, R.I. returns to the team for her final season and currently leads all the Eagles in points with 11, scoring six goals while registering one assist.
Also pushing the offense for the Eagles is redshirt junior midfielder Lauren Berman. The Canton, Mass. native brings a special scoring touch to the team and currently sits at two goals and two assists so far this season, but expect those numbers to quickly change.
