The Eagles are less than 24 hours away from the 2016 season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – We are less than 24 hours away from finally seeing the maroon and gold taking the field for another season. Returning for the first time to the Emerald Isle since holding the first sanctioned game in Europe back in 1988.
Georgia Tech will try to play the role of spoiler as the Eagles will be looking for that first ACC win that alluded them last season. However, unlike last season Boston College not only has a healthy roster, but an increased hunger for winning.
This will not be an easy season opener for the Eagles as head coach Steve Addazio acknowledged the challenges that accompany the trip to Ireland.
"It's forced us to really accelerate everything," Addazio said Monday. "When I mean everything, I mean everything."
One of those eager to get back on the field, especially to play Georgia Tech, is senior runningback Myles Willis who is from Georgia.
"When I went to college, I told myself I'm going to play Georgia Tech and that hasn't happened, and now I get the opportunity," he said. "It's kind of a lot of pressure because you get one opportunity. I'm a senior. I'm excited to play them."
Along with graduate quarterback Patrick Towles who is hoping to provide stability to the offense.
"Thankfully coach (Steve) Addazio gave me a chance to be a part of this family, and I want the best for this team, and I want to win as many games as possible."
Aside from the offense, senior defensive tackle Truman Gutapfel is looking to take his captaincy and his talent to continue to make the defense on of the best in the nation.
In Saturday's matchup, you can expect to see the Yellow Jackets' triple threat offense trying to breakdown the Eagles defense and viewers will get a full preview of what the Boston College offense is fully capable of this season.
