Maloy Excels at Rio Games

Former Eagle paces Americans in Men's Triathlon
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Former BC swimming standout, Joe Maloy '08, finished 23rd overall in the men's triathlon at the Rio Olympics on Thursday. Malloy was the highest placing American, crossing the finish line at 1:48:30. Â
Maloy currently holds the top finish by a U.S. man in the past four years after earning sixth at ITU World Triathlon Gold Coast on April 9. Maloy is a former USA Triathlon Elite National Champion and finished 16th at the Rio de Janeiro ITU World Olympic Qualification Event on Aug. 2, 2015.
Malloy is one of 40 former Eagles to participate in the Olympic Games, and one of 17 to have participated in the Summer Olympics.
The Wildwood Crest, N.J. native was a four year letterman for the Eagles swimming & diving program, while serving as a team captain his senior season. Maloy was also an assistant coach at The Heights for two seasons.
